INTRODUCTION
I’m Blane McCarthy, a Jacksonville injury lawyer and mediator. I have been serving injury victims since 1995, and mediating disputes since 2000. Other than the free legal aid that I donate to homeless residents at the City Rescue Mission, I only handle injury cases and mediations. Mine is a ‘low volume’ law practice with only 20-30 injury cases at one time. By narrowing my practice areas and limiting my caseload, I strive to provide my clients with the compassion, skill and personal attention that they deserve.
Rest assured that if we decide to work together, you will get an attorney who is committed to serving you, who will know your case well, who will be attentive to your needs and questions, and who will do his absolute best to protect your rights and maximize your recovery. I aim to be someone you can trust and recommend to others.
Thank you for visiting my website. Please take a look around to learn more about me and my professional services. Consultations are free. I hope to hear from you soon.

As a Jacksonville Injury Lawyer, I help injury victims protect their livelihood, lifestyle and loved ones.
As a Jacksonville Mediator, I assist disputing parties to make peace.
This is all I do. By narrowing my practice to these two areas, I can better serve my clients with the compassion, skill and personal attention that they deserve. In this, I strive to fulfill the command: "Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God ." I Corinthians 10:31.
Thank you for visiting my website. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you need further assistance.

SERVICES FOR INJURY VICTIMS |
SERVICES FOR OTHER INJURY LAWYERS |
MEDIATION SERVICES
The profession of law appealed to me for many reasons, including the virtues of equality, impartiality, and accountability. After being mentored for the first two-and-one-half years of my career, I was lead to open my own law firm on January 1, 1998. I decided to provide high quality service for two specific legal needs – injury cases and mediations - instead of trying to handle a wide variety of legal matters.

Many of my injury attorney colleagues have “high volume” practices handling over 100 cases at any given time. I decided to run my practice differently. I purposely limit my injury file caseload to 20-30 cases at a time, so that I can know each file intimately and provide each of my clients with the high level of compassion, skill and personal attention that they deserve.

WHAT I DO – INJURY LAWYER SERVICES FOR INJURY VICTIMS
As a Jacksonville Injury Lawyer, I give my clients individual, personal attention with Christian compassion. Innocent victims quickly learn that injuries not only hurt a person physically, but also financially, emotionally and relationally. Injuries often force victims to miss work, sometimes permanently damaging their ability to perform at their job. Victims are frequently unable to fully enjoy their hobbies and recreation, greatly reducing their quality of life. Sadly, their injuries often burden their loved ones and can forever alter their relationships.

I handle most types of injury claims, except for medical negligence claims against doctors and workers compensation claims. I help victims who have been injured by:
Crashes
Falldowns
Defective Products
Drownings
Animal Attacks
Physical Attacks
Job Site Injuries
General Negligence
My clients have suffered a wide spectrum of injuries - from broken fingers to catastrophic third-degree burns to death.
The majority of cases involve non-catastrophic injuries, such as herniated disks, injured joints and broken bones. While they may not leave visible scars, these injuries often result in permanent pains and physical limitations. My involvement and representation has helped "even the playing field" between my injury victim client and the insurance adjuster who is trained to dispute injury claims.
An example of a more severe injury case involved an industrial fire, which caused my client to suffer third-degree burns over eighty percent of his body. To this day, he is the most severely injured patient at the regional Burn Unit to have ever survived. My client used the funds we recovered to improve his living arrangements and quality of life.
I have also assisted individuals whose loved ones were killed through the neglect of others. While no recovery can erase such tragic losses, I am glad that my services have helped the survivors face tomorrow and better preserve the memories of the dearly departed.
As a Jacksonville injury lawyer who has assisted hundreds of injury victims, I can explain insurance issues and legal rights, and can help victims protect their livelihood, lifestyle and loved ones.
WHAT I DO – INJURY LAWYER SERVICES FOR OTHER INJURY LAWYERS

In addition to handling the cases of my own clients, I also provide Trial Counsel or Trial Co-Counsel services to other injury attorneys. The time demands of an injury law practice can be daunting and overwhelming, especially for those who handle a large number of cases. My caseload is purposely smaller, allowing me to be available to assist my colleagues in preparing for, assisting in, or handling the trials of their client’s cases.
Candidly, I simply enjoy trial work and would like to do more of it. If you could use an extra set of hands, a second brain to pick, or someone to handle the trial, please contact me to discuss this affordable option. Under most circumstances, my Trial Co-Counsel agreement calls for me to be paid the lesser of: 30% of the total attorneys’ fee or 15% of the total attorneys’ fee plus an hourly fee calculated at $300 per hour spent on the file.
WHAT I DO – MEDIATION SERVICES
As a Certified Circuit Civil Mediator, I help bring peaceful resolutions to disputes in a way that is quick, professional and inexpensive. Almost all state and federal judges now require lawsuits to go through Mediation. It is often the last best chance for the parties to control the outcome themselves. The alternative - trusting a jury of six strangers - is usually less appealing.
Many businesses and individuals are wisely seeking the early help of a Mediator before spending unnecessary time and money in a lawsuit. I am pleased to conduct presuit Mediations at a reduced rate.
The Florida Supreme Court's certification process is designed to ensure that Mediators are properly trained and skilled to help bring peace to disputes. Since my certification in the year 2000, I have been referred cases by judges, attorneys, businesses, individuals, the Better Business Bureau, and the State of Florida. I have mediated a wide variety of legal issues, including Personal Injury, Commercial, Probate, Consumer, Nursing Home, Construction, Insurance, Eminent Domain, Collections, and PIP cases.

Perhaps the most humbling aspect of my work is being trusted – to handle one’s injury claim or to help parties make peace. I do not take this trust lightly, nor do I expect it to be given without careful consideration of my qualifications as an attorney and my qualities as a person.

WHO I AM - PERSONAL QUALITIES
I was born and raised in South Florida. Much of who I am is due to the upbringing that my parents and family provided. The rest of who I am is due to the love, grace and mercy of my Father. I was born again in high school, shortly after the tragic death of a close friend in a fatal crash that nearly involved me. In reflecting back on my life, I saw the many blessings and protections that God provided throughout my life. I was not worthy of His love and kindness. Coming to this truth was the most freeing discovery of my life. Accepting His gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, I strove to please Him with the rest of my days and follow His leading whenever it arose.

I met my wife in college and we were married on May 21, 1994 before my final year of law school. Jennifer graciously served as the family’s sole breadwinner while I continued my studies. This was the first of many sacrifices that my loving bride has made for our family and my wellbeing. I am daily honored and awed by her friendship, love and trust. Jennifer is yet another gift from God of which I am not worthy.
We are thrilled to call Jacksonville, Florida “home” and plan to spend the rest of our lives here. The people of Jacksonville are gracious and hospitable, and the morals and values of the community match ours. Our wonderful church family has helped us grow closer together and closer to God. They, along with our other friends, have helped us raise our sons Jonah Brendan, born in 2002, and Andrew Joseph, born in 2005. The joy parenthood brings has far surpassed our very high expectations and by it we are daily reminded of God’s goodness and love.
While we have only been here since 1995, we intend to plant our family roots in Jacksonville so that they run as deep and broad as those of the many majestic oak trees that landscape our lovely city. I know of no better place to spend my professional and personal life, and no other place in which I would rather raise a family. This is the greatest city in the greatest country in the world. I am truly blessed.
With these blessings come responsibility. “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others…” 1 Peter 4:10. I have tried to lead by serving, to better others and to honor God. As noted in my Professional Qualifications page, I have used my legal training to serve homeless residents of the City Rescue Mission’s LifeBuilders’ Program with free legal aid through the Christian Legal Society’s Pro Bono Project. I donate my time to help resolve disputes that are brought to the Better Business Bureau. Much of my public service has been to and through my church. I have been a Deacon (ordained in 1998), a Trustee, the church Treasurer, and a long-time Bible Study Option teacher. Since 2004, I have been the Adult Ministries Director, a part-time staff position in charge of our church’s small group ministries, adult Bible study program, and ASK Outreach ministry.
